Toxic overload is responsible for many imbalances in the body, which can lead to serious health problems. These include constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, sluggish bowel movements or Irritable Bowel Syndrome along with other immume system deficiencies.
Your colon is designed to eliminate waste from the body, but a combination of poor diet, improper food combining and even prescription drugs may impair its ability to function correctly and to rid the body of toxic waste.
Colonic hydrotherapy is a safe and easy way to cleanse the colon of harmful toxic waste. The treatment helps restore the proper pH balance in the body, stimulates the immune system and provides a favourable environment for 'friendly' bacteria to grow. During a Colonic Hydrotherapy treatment, water is gently introduced into the colon via the rectum - with special massage techniques the water begins to soften and cleanse the colon of faecal matter and old deposits, which are then discreetly piped directly into the main drain without offensive odour and without compromising the dignity of the patient.
To prepare onself for Colonic Hydrotherapy, it is advisable to eat or drink only lightly for upto 2 hours prior to the treatment, to avoid any uncomfortable sensations during the abdominal massage.
What does a Colonic Hydrotherapy Treatment consist of?
The colon is the end part of the digestive tract. It is approximately 5 feet long and 2.5 inches in diameter. Its major functions are to absorb water and eliminate waste. There are also bacteria in the colon, which help absorb nutrients.
Colonic Hydrotherapy consists of the introduction of warm purified water introduced into the colon under low pressure, via a small tube. When the colon is filled, the water flows out through a larger tube, taking with it any loose debris. This is done a number of times throughout the treatment. Each treatment lasts approximately 45 minutes. The end result is a gentle flushing of the colon and a loosening of any old faecal debris.
What is the purpose of a Colonic Hydrotherapy treatment?
Waste material, especially that which has remained in the colon for some time poses several problems. If toxic waste is not removed these poisons can re-enter the bloodstream leaving us feeling tired, weak and ill. Impacted material can impair the colon's ability to absorb both vitamins and minerals and could leave one malnourished. A build up of material in the colon can also inhibit the muscular function of the gut wall causing sluggish bowel movement, bloating and/or constipation, with excess mucous in the stools - many of the symptoms above are associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Candida Albicans.
What are the signs of a toxic colon?
Common signs include: headache, backache, constipation, fatigue, body odour, bad breath, confusion, constipation, sluggish bowel movements, irritability, skin problems, bloating, excess wind, diarrhoea. Many of these are encountered daily by many people. Toxic material is found throughout the body, not just in the colon. Colonic Hydrotherapy eliminates large quantities of toxic waste, affecting the entire condition of the body.
How does old faecal matter get stuck in the colon and how much could there be?
Normally 4 - 6 treatments can be helpful but in some, more severe cases, a more long term approach may be required. It depends upon the health of the colon. Treatments should be approximately one week apart to gain maximum benefit. This gives the body time to recover from any healing crises.
Between 3 - 5lbs of toxic waste matter can be present on average but there can be up to 25lbs present at any one time, not including any transient matter. The old matter gets lodged into pockets, or stuck in the bowel wall. Normal stools and even diarrhoea will only pass over this and will not be able to dislodge it. For anyone requiring colonic hydrotherapy they should also look into the possibility of them suffering from Candida (see our web page)
How many Colonic Hydrotherapy treatments would I need?
Is it embarrassing to have a Colonic Hydrotherapy treatment?
No, you will maintain dignity at all times. The therapist fully appreciates the sensitive nature of the procedure and will help you feel at ease at all times. After the insertion of a small instrument into the rectum you are completely covered. Rubber tubing carries water in and waste out directly into the mains drain. The mess and odour sometimes associated with an enema simply does not exist.
